Barbara Arfé
Barbara Arfé is associate professor of Educational Psychology and Learning Disabilities at the University of Padua and Director of the LaBs (Laboratorio per gli Apprendimenti del Bambino con Sordità - Laboratory for Deaf Children's Learning). She is a member of the Human Inspired Technology Research Centre and of the Steering Committee of the I-APPROVE (International Auditory Processing Project in Venice) Centre at the University of Padova. Her research focuses on the challenges of learning and the acquisition of literacy skills, particularly in individuals with hearing loss, dyslexia, and poor text comprehension. On these topics she has conducted both national and international (EU) research projects and served as consultant for international organizations such as the UNESCO. In reading research her work revolves around cognitive text adaptation techniques and the association between reading and writing difficulties.
