Edición crítica de voluntad de Benito Pérez Galdós

Esta investigación responde a un interés por contribuir a un mejor conocimiento del proceso de elaborar los textos del dramaturgo canario y, a la postre, de su estilo. La fijación y el estudio de los rasgos estilísticos que el autor, conscientemente, va modificando mediante transformaciones, adiciones o supresiones, supone la mejor prueba para desterrar la vieja idea de que don Benito Pérez Galdós no se preocupaba por estas cuestiones y de que su estilo, cercano al coloquial, surgía de una forma espontánea sin que el escritor realizara una esmerada rectificación de los diversos estadios en la gestación de una obra hasta llegar al texto publicado. La gestación de Voluntad es muy significativa pues nos aporta testimonios de las dudas del autor, a la vez que nos muestra esos textos alternativos desechados, tan importantes para poder comprender de una manera fidedigna el largo camino que puede llevar la gestación de una obra dramática. Se han conservado cinco manuscritos, los cuales, debido a la variedad y riqueza que entrañan, nos revelan la complejidad del proceso creativo del autor. El estudio de la obra está estructurado en dos partes: la primera dedicada al estudio de Voluntad y de los cinco manuscritos que se han conservado los cuales, debido a la variedad y riqueza que entrañan, ponen de manifiesto la complejidad del proceso creativo del autor; la segunda, contiene la edición crítica.

This research contributes to deepen on the understanding of the creative process of the texts and style of the Canarian playwright. The study of the characteristics of the style that the author consciously adds and deletes is the best proof to dismiss the old belief that Benito Pérez Galdós was not concerned on that matters. And the other old belief that his colloquial style was a naturally produced without the author’s painstaking rectifications on the different steps of the creation of a work to its publication. The creation of Voluntad is very important because it gives testimony of the doubts of the playwright at the same time it is shown alternative discarded texts that are important to comprehend in a realistic way the long way that takes to create a theatrical work. There are five preserved manuscripts that due to the variety and richness they have reveal that the creative process of the author is complex. The research of this work is structured in two parts. A first one devoted to the research of Voluntad and the five preserved manuscripts which make obvious the complexity of the creative process of the author. And, a second part that is the critic edition.
