Pragmatics. A Reader and Workbook

La presente obra es una versión completamente revisada y actualizada del segundo módulo que trabaja la Pragmática y que se incluyó en el libro de texto de la Universidad "Introducing Semantics and Pragmatics: A Reader and Textbook". Esta obra tiene la intención de ser útil a los estudiantes de la asignatura "Pragmática de la lengua inglesa", incluida en el nuevo grado de Lenguas Modernas. Sigue su misma estructura en cuanto a las áreas temáticas que cubren, pero ofrece extractos más recientes y ejercicios adicionales, así como una bibliografía, resúmenes y un glosario actualizados. El material de este libro está destinado a ayudar a que los estudiantes comprendan a grandes rasgos la asignatura y, sobre todo, será beneficioso para el proceso de aprendizaje general de la lengua. Además, este libro presenta una selección de textos sacados de diferentes fuentes con el objetivo de desarrollar los conceptos y las teorías mencionadas en el programa de la asignatura. La mayoría de los textos incluyen uno o dos tipos de ejercicios denominados Study questions y/o Practical questions. El objetivo de los primeros es ayudar a los estudiantes a entender las claves de la lectura, mientras que el objetivo de los segundos es proporcionar a los estudiantes oportunidades para poner en práctica sus conocimientos. 

The present work is a completely revised and updated version of the second module, dealing with Pragmatics, which was included in the University textbook "Introducing Semantics and Pragmatics: A Reader and Textbook". This book has been planned to be of use to students taking the subject "Pragmática de la lengua inglesa", within the new degree in Lenguas Modernas. It follows the same structure, regarding the topic areas covered, but offers more recent extracts and additional exercises, as well as updated bibliography, summaries and a glossary. It is to be hope that all this material will help students gain insight into the subject and, overall, will be of benefit to their general language learning process. Moreover, this book consists of a selection of texts taken from various sources in order to develop the concepts and theories mentioned in the course syllabus. Most texts include one or two types of related exercises denominated Study questions and/or Practical questions. The aim of the former is to help students understand the key points of the reading, while that of the latter is to provide them with opportunities to put their knowledge into practice.
