Traducción de la metáfora poética desde un enfoque comunicativo.

El material empírico de esta obra lo constituye un corpus de metáforas lorquianas del Romancero Gitano, elegidas en función de la dificultad de su traducción al inglés e interpretadas a la luz de su función comunicativa en todo el texto, teniendo en cuenta la teoría comuniccativa de la traducción. Se insiste en el problema de la traducción de las referencias culturales, dentro del concepto de intertextualidad cultural, que abarca todas las diferencias entre culturas, anallizándose igualmente los factores relevantes de la situación comunicativa en que fue creado el Romancero Gitano y el sentido de cada uno de los romances y, dentro de éstos, de la función/funciones comunicativas de las metáforas culturales elegidas, que son aquellas que presumiblemente el destinatario del texto meta no comprenderá, sin la aportación, por parte del traductor, de la información cultural necesaria. Desde esta óptica, se evalúan los aciertos y desaciertos de las traducciones de las metáforas lorquianas al inglés británico, norteamericano y canadiense.

The empirical material of this book is constituted by a corpus of Lorca studies metaphors of Romancero Gitano. These were chosen in order of the difficulty to translate them into English and interpreted, through the whole text, taking into account the translation communicative theory. It is reiterate the problem if the translation of the cultural references. All the differences between the cultures are included in the concept of cultural intertextuality. It is also analysed the relevant factors of the communicative context in which Romancero Gitano was created and the meaning of each ballad. It will be also analysed the communicative function/s of the chosen cultural metaphors that, presumably, the reader won’t understand from the Meta text without the translator’s advice on the cultural information. From this point of view, British, North American and Canadian English wise and incorrect translations will be assessed.
